The Bombala local area joins the Cooma-Monaro, Snowy River, Bega and East Gippsland local government areas. Bega and Cooma provide key service centres for local residents and strong links to the neighbouring communities exists through recreational pursuits. A growing link with Eden is also developing through the Forestry industry. In turn Delegate and Bombala act as key service centres to residents in the northern Victoria areas adjoining the Bombala local area. The local community refer to the area as being ideally located between the mountain and the sea.
Broadening the local economy, focusing on opportunities to improve employment opportunities in the local area and the ability of the local economy to take advantage of those opportunities is a key outcome area. This is needed to maintain and encourage the development of new industries and businesses.
